Many players have likely noticed that the currency drop rate in Path of Exile 3.27 Keepers of the Flame League is significantly lower than in 3.26. In fact, you’re right; the official drop rate has indeed been adjusted.
This is very bad news for players. A major difference between Path of Exile and similar games is that your currency essentially determines your gameplay experience. You’ll need currency to craft or trade equipment.
Furthermore, with the league just starting, most ordinary players don’t have much currency yet. Essences Farming
This is a very easy-to-learn strategy, especially suitable for when your build isn’t yet strong enough. It works on Tier 6 rare maps.

- Prolific Essence: Creates an Essence-imprisoned monster on the map.
- Amplified Energies: Imprisoned monsters provide more rewards.
- Select all talent points near Essence clusters that increase the spawn rate of Crystal Lattice.
Other Talents
Select Shrines-related talents to create more shrines on the map, significantly increasing map clearing speed.
Select talents like Twice Tempted to increase the number and rewards of Strongboxes as an additional source of income, allowing you to obtain extra Strongboxes on every map.
Select Trapping Carapaces, Explorative Carapaces, or Crystalline Carapaces to increase the chance of obtaining Ambush Scarab and Essence Scarab.
Not Recommended Talents
- Crystal Resonance: Makes Remnant of Corruption effect unstable, sometimes even reducing its effectiveness.
Scarab
It’s recommended to arrange your scarabs according to your budget. If your budget is limited, just use Essence Scarab of Stability.
- Essence Scarab of Stability: Each one costs approximately 0.5 Chaos Orbs. It allows players to use Vaal Orbs to upgrade or transform all essences, increasing their yield.
- Essence Scarab: Approximately 2 Chaos Orbs each. Increases the number of Essence-imprisoned monsters on the map.
- Essence Scarab of Ascent: Approximately 6 PoE Chaos Orbs. Upgrades an essence by one level.
- Essence Scarab of Calcification: Approximately 50 Chaos Orbs each. Very effective, recommended only after you’ve earned enough currency.
When you’ve earned a significant amount of currency and have four scarab slots, you can add an Essence Scarab of Calcification or another Essence Scarab.
Expedition Farming
Expedition Farming can be performed with minimal use of scarabs, making it particularly suitable for the early stages of a league.

Core Talents
- Hunter of Answers: Increases the chance of expedition events appearing on the map and provides additional Artifacts.
- The Light of Down Talent Path: This talent point provides Searing Exarch monsters that drop a large amount of basic currency, making them very easy to sell at the start of the season. You can also choose Elderslayer-related path, which consumes the same number of talent points.
- Buried Knowledge, Scratchin’ up the Ground, A Noble Quest: These talents increase rewards associated with the expedition NPCs Dannig and Tujen.
- Shrine-Related Talents: These are also needed to speed up map clearing.
- Scarab-Related Talents: Choose talents that increase the drop rates of Ambush and Essence Scarabs.
Not Recommended Talents
- Extreme Archaeology: While it speeds up explosive placement, it also makes expeditions more difficult. Therefore, it’s not recommended if your build isn’t strong enough.
Scarab
This strategy is recommended for Dunes or other open maps for easier planning and detonation of explosives. For Map Device Crafting, choose the option that increases the number of items in that area.
- Expedition Scarab of Verisium Powder: Approximately 1 Chaos Orb, providing more explosives and a larger blast radius.
- Expedition Scarab of Runefining: Approximately 5 Chaos Orbs, increasing the probability of encounters. If your build can easily handle expeditions, one or two are recommended.
- Expedition Scarab of Archaeology: Adds more affixes to Remnants, making expeditions extremely difficult. Only recommended for strong builds.
- Scarab of Monstrous Lineage: Increases monster horde size. Recommended for use with Expedition Scarab of Runefinding when currency is plentiful.
Harbinger Farming
This strategy reliably produces various fragments, allowing for the crafting of high-value currencies.
Atlas Tree Setup
You need to select all Harbinger-related talents, including Ominous Arrival, Unspeakable Offensive, and First Wave. Extra talent points can be allocated to map affixes, item quantity, item rarity, etc., including Shrines and Scarab-related talents for additional benefits.
Scarab
You can choose any map you prefer, with high item quantity and large monster density, and run maps with up to 8 modifiers. Select Harbinger for map device crafting.
- Harbinger Scarab of Warhoards: Worth approximately 5 Chaos orbs, provides a dupilation effect, essential.
- Harbinger Scarab of Regency: Has a 50% chance to replace Harbingers with powerful Harbinger leaders, offering high returns.
If you don’t have much POE currency, you can skip Harbinger Scarab of Obelisks, as the returns are relatively low. Using only map device crafting and Harbinger Scarab of Warhoards is also viable, providing some returns with each farming attempt.
